for today
no songs of separation

how can I sing of Your absence
when You are everywhere I turn

blind men and the Elephant

Posted on Dec 5th, 2006 by Metta : metaphorical longshoreman Metta
blind, I touch the Elephant here
and still know nothing of the Grand Beast

tell me, who is God?

such a lowly place

Fall on your knees! Oh, hear the angel voices!
O night divine, the night when Christ was born;
O night divine!
O night, O night divine!
John Sullivan Dwight (1812-1893)

This silent night, holy night.
This night that God chooses a lowly place
filled with animals,
desires and darkness
to be born within.

Still the angels sing, "Glory Hallelujah"
at the birth in this dirty dwelling.
(here within these broken walls)
They sing with joy
and watch the holy babe grow.

God born in such a lowly place,
such an unexpected place:
my heart.

5 things about me - you may not know

Posted on Dec 29th, 2006 by Metta : metaphorical longshoreman Metta
Donan tagged me:

1) I sit and read poetry and other mystical writings to God

2) On Tuesday I heard the wind rushing through the trees on the Oregon Coast and it made my heart ache

Which leads me to the 3rd thing:

3) When I love something/someone,  I have the tendency to miss them even while I am with them

4) I love dill pickles with peanut butter - but not enough to miss them while I am eating them

5) I am truly more interested in visiting with people's animals than I am with people... and if you have a dog and I am visiting you, don't be surprised if I jump down on the floor and play like another dog with it.

I tag:

Maggie
Nikki
Babasboy
Ember
Zennie
